Classic mode: pin where real speakers grew up

Classic is the original game surface. Each round introduces a speaker through their dialect answers, and you pin the map where you think they grew up.

What you see each round

You get a handful of clues upfront. They are answers to vocabulary and pronunciation questions, phrased the way the survey asks them. They are not audio clips. The game is about reading dialect evidence, not listening for it.

The clues come from real people who took the quiz and agreed to appear in the pool, blended with researched regional profiles where the community is still sparse.

How scoring works

Your pin is scored against the speaker's accepted territory. That territory is an H3 region built from where people with similar answer patterns actually live. It is not merely the straight-line distance to their hometown.

That means a pin in the right dialect region scores well even if it is not on the exact city, which matches how accent geography actually behaves.

Practice versus daily

Classic draws a fresh five-round board every time you start, so it is the unlimited practice mode. The daily puzzle uses the same engine but fixes one board per UTC day.

Both are free and need no account.
